Show your pride in style

LGBT+ pride month may be over, but I think its always a good time to celebrate your pride. As a member of the LGBT+ community, I know the struggle of accepting yourself, and fearing others won’t accept you. Fortunately my friends and family have been incredibly supportive and helped me to learn to love myself the way I am. And now I’ve embraced who I truly am, what better way to show my pride than through fashion. Here are a few of my favourite fashionable ways to express my pride, and look fabulous at the same time.

There are hundreds of beautiful gay pride jewellry items out there, such as this cuff from dunns jewels, with a matching choker also avaliable. This beautiful rainbow braclet is bold, bright and looks amazing with summer outfits. The LGBT+ rainbow is used to symbolise equality and diversity, and so rainbow jewellry is a great way to express your individuality and show your support for equality, as well as being a stunning accessory.

Another way to show your pride is nail art. I love nail art but often struggle with it, even after watching countless numbers of youtube tutorials, so these rainbow heart nail stickers (avaliable on Amazon) are perfect for me, as well as being a symbol of love and diversity. First paint your nails a regular colour, I chose a shimmery silver polish, and then cut out a sticker and wet the back of it using a damp paper towel. After around 20 seconds the paper backing of the sticker should slide off and you can press the sticker down onto your nails, and finish with a clear top coat to add shine and reducing chipping. These pride nails look stunning, and are a great way to subtly express yourself.

So these rainbow lips are pretty out there, but they look amazing in photographs and are a beautiful way to show your pride. Start off by concealing your lips using your favourite concealer, I used Rimmel London’s ‘Hide the Blemish’ concealer in ivory. Wait for a minute or so to allow the concealer to set, and then using a lip brush (or a fine paint brush) apply red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple eyeshadow across your lips, and blend the colours together slightly where they meet. Set the eyeshadow with loose powder to ensure it doesn’t smudge, and there you have it, beautiful rainbow lips. This certainly isn’t practical, but it looks amazing and is great for makeup lovers who want to show their pride.

Remember to stay stylish, and love yourself no matter who you are.
