‘They’re Real’ Benefit mascara: Review

theyre-real-before-and-after-

There’s such a big hype about this mascara so I was desperate to try it. ‘They’re Real’ from Benefit Cosmetics is extremely popular and that’s no surprise when you see all of the before and after shots. The mascara is available for £19.50, although it’s cheaper on Amazon. The packaging is beautiful, I love the sleek silver tube, plus its relatively large so I’m sure it’ll last a long time which is great seeing as it’s on the more expensive side. The bristles are small so they coat every lash, however they were incredibly harsh on my eyes. They were actually quite sharp for mascara bristles which isn’t ideal as the eye area is very delicate.

I applied around three coats of the mascara, like I do with my regular Clinique one, and to be honest I was very disappointed. As you can see in my before and after (below) my lashes are longer, but I could have easily achieved this with a cheaper drugstore mascara; my Maybelline Illegal Length mascara works just as well as this. The mascara took an excessively long time to dry, and it was incredibly flakey, particularly when I tried to remove it- it took ages and lots got in my eye.

Overall, I was disappointed in this product. It’s so popular so I assumed it’d be very high quality, but the results just aren’t worth the price, I’d rather use a cheap drugstore mascara that can easily achieve the same results (and is softer on my eyes). I wouldn’t recommend this mascara.
